FARYAB, May. 04 – Heavy rains and floods in several districts of Faryab and the suburbs of the capital Maimana have caused huge financial losses to people over the past two days.

Details say as many as 400 residential houses were destroyed due to floods in different parts of Maimana last night. 50 cattle were destroyed, as well as claimed lives of a 30-year-old man and an 8- and a 10-year-old child.

During the last two days on the second and third day of Eid, floods in various parts of Bandar district destroyed dozens of houses, and hundreds of acres of agricultural land, destroying gardens and crops, as well as over 10 dams. The dynamos of electricity generation have also been destroyed by floods and the transport routes of this district with the center have also been cut off and now the people are in dire need of humanitarian aid.

In another report, due to floods and heavy rains in the center of Chilgazay district, over ten shops were destroyed and the district clinic was damaged and in Sartakht, Gondab Payen, Qalandbazar, Hezar Qala, Chaharshanbeh, Kariz, Alokozai, and Barakzai, Doabi, Khaja Spilan, Wimbleq district, 80 houses were destroyed and a 5-year-old girl was martyred and two others were injured in floods. Thousands of acres of crops were destroyed making it difficult for people to cross, and 50 livestock were lost.

In Qaisar district, last night, floods caused casualties and financial losses to the people. A 10-year-old man from the village (Gand Ab Bala) of this district drowned, killing 180 cattle from Burghan Hirk villages. Khata’i, Baba Arab and Khawaja Kanti lost, 9,000 garlic fields and vineyards destroyed from Khata’i, Yangi, Yuzbegi, Erklik, Chichekto, Qorgh and Birkeh villages, 120 residential houses in Burghan Hirk villages, Uzbek saffron and saffron, and 20 grocery stores in the village of Khata.

Meanwhile, four transport bridges between Shakh and Qaisar roads were destroyed, cutting off traffic in 60 villages in the district center.

Furthermore, due to the floods in Qarqool, Shoor, and Achiq areas of Almar district, about one hundred acres of cultivated lands of their ministries have been destroyed and one residential house in Khodayamat area and two houses in the bazaar of this district have been completely destroyed.

A body has also been pulled out of the flooded village of Jalalazi village in Shirin Tagab district the identity has not been determined yet.

Agricultural lands in Chubaki, Beik, Belek Khoshbaei and Mirza areas of Khyber district have also been destroyed by floods and heavy rains.

 

The victims of these natural disasters are asking the Disaster Management Department and the officials of the relief offices to provide the necessary and timely assistance to their problems as soon as possible because the people in this area are extremely damaged and are in dire need of humanitarian assistance.
