8 killed as check post overrun in Maiwand, 3 APC’s destroyed

KANDAHAR, June. 26 – Reports arriving from Maiwand district state that a hireling check post came under a Mujahideen attack in Baibanak area overnight.
Attack of heavy and light weapons resulted in the check post overrun after a brief resistance killing 8 Arbakis on the spot and leaving 2 others seriously wounded as well as an APC destroyed.
6 rifles, 2 heavy machine guns, 1 RPG and other war equipment was seized from the check post.
3 Mujahideen were also martyred in the operation.
Also in Maiwnad a tank and an APC was shred into pieces by IED attacks close to Germawok Karez area early morning yesterday, killing and wounding all gunmen abroad.
