Commemorating World Anti-Drug Day provides an excellent opportunity to raise awareness about the perils of drug abuse and promote a healthy lifestyle to prevent youth addiction. Each year, numerous individuals worldwide die as a result of drug use.
The battle against drugs and the eradication of this issue is one of the greatest challenges, requiring the collaboration and combined efforts of individuals, families, nations, and international organizations.
Over the last two decades, a significant number of young people in Afghanistan have been impacted by drug addiction. Many of them can be seen spending their days and nights on the streets, isolated from their families. Unfortunately, For many years, little attention was given to collecting and treating this group affected by drugs by the officials and rulers of that time.
After their victory, the leadership of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan issued a decree to combat the cultivation, production smuggling, sale, and use of drugs in Afghanistan. The Ministry of Interior has made the fight against this destructive phenomenon one of its top priorities in line with this decree.
Fortunately, for the first time in many decades, the cultivation, production, and trafficking of narcotics in Afghanistan have significantly decreased. This achievement is attributed to the leadership of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the dedicated efforts of the anti-narcotics police forces of the Ministry of Interior Affairs. It can be confidently stated that production has nearly reached zero.
The collection and treatment of drug addicts posed significant challenges. However, the Islamic Emirate successfully managed to address this by collecting and providing treatment to all drug addicts. found on the sides of the roads, under bridges, and in alleys.
Since the Islamic Emirate’s victory, the police forces have carried out 47,879 operations to combat narcotics. As a result, they have arrested 17,240 suspects and seized 119 tons of various types of drugs and alcohol, as well as 5,390 tons of chemical substances.
1,315 drug factories and laboratories were destroyed, and 21,743 hectares of land were cleared of poppy fields.
A 5,000-beded hospital has been established in Kabul for the rehabilitation and treatment of drug addicts where 115,220 individuals from across the country have been gathered and treated.
The practical measures, success, and progress in the fight against drugs in Afghanistan, despite the short time and limited resources, demonstrate the strong determination of the Islamic Emirate to eradicate drugs from Afghanistan. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan calls on the countries of the world and international cooperating organizations to join and support Afghanistan in this important fight against drugs, whose destructive consequences harm other countries worldwide.We seeks cooperation in areas such as providing alternative livelihoods for farmers,treating addicts,and other related matters.
